Lots of lads I knew collected them when we were kids. I suppose in the late 70s they were the ultimate in advertising !!!

Now I tend to find you go in a pub and all the beer mats are the same (I can feel a new collection coming on)

I used to collect beer mats and matchboxes in the 70's too.  I had a huge box of matchboxes that my dad sold for me for a fiver!  It was a lot of money in them days, I wish I'd kept them though.

On the Internet, nobody knows you're a cat.

Snap,i used to collect beer mats, some foreign too and match boxes,my pride and joy,as well as my collection of smelly rubbers and keyrings.I would get my pocket money(the most i ever got was £.1.50,and that stopped when i hit 16,had to get a Saturday job)and carefully choose which rubber or keyring to buy, baring in mind they were about 50p each,so one a week, that was all i could afford.
