Been crapping on about this gem elsewhere, so I thought I'd best plug it here....and I know it's a little odd to be starting a thread about a new film on a nostalgia forum...but this really is a case of an old fashioned morality tale, wrapped up in the present about our future fault lines...although ovelooked by Globes and Oscars, good plain folk have voted with their feet in the States, and it's nearing $100 million at the box office and Mr. Eastwood's biggest ever box office success...

Reading in the paper today,michael caine is making a simular type of film due for release next year,story is set in modern britain,michael caines character snaps when his best friend is murdered,and basically goes on a wipeout mission by all accounts.
look forward to watching both these films.

Yeah read that too Andy, think the plot sounds more of an avenging film that Gran Torino is, but couldn't understand why they said 'next year'....I mean we've barely started this bugger....

I'm well looking forward to this Clint special next Friday which happens to be my birthday, as well.     This man has still got what it takes to be a world-class moviemaker. 
Michael Caine's revenge film sounds mouthwatering.  A return to Get Carter territory?  We can only hope so.
