Vauxhall Viva

How we used to dread getting in my Dads Vauxhall Viva in the 70s , unreliable, rusty and very boxy .

It was a great day indeed when he scrapped it for a Vauxhall Victor (canary yellow) . This was promptly written off in a bad smash 2 weeks later .... However, he quickly replaced this with another Vauxhall Victor (Estate ) (Electric blue) ....

Ahh great days , being dropped off 400 yards from school so no-one could see his crap cars grin

Lol....My Dad had a Cresta, My Grandad had a Velox (same car, different trim) and then a Ventora (what was it with Vauxhall and 'V's?)

Later my Mum had a 3 litre Gold Vauxhall Viscount, which was jacked up on Wolfraces with Airhorns and White Lettered Tyres....I liked being dropped off in that baby!

My first car was a white vauxhall viva in 1985, I was 17, my much older girlfriend's dad bought it from an auction.
It was a piece of crap, I had a sony walkman and some mini speakers taped to the dash as my sound system.grin
I didn't actually pass my test until 8 yrs later when I was 25 .

I could also mention his Mk 1 Cortina (with go faster stripe) Hillman Hunter (Bottle green - matt hand painted) Mk2 Granada (Strangely white and quite normal) - all crap and regulrly broke down .

Lost count of the times I was sat on the hard shoulder of motorways or pushing one of his wrecks up the street crying
