The daddy of 70's toys

#0, by 1970nick, 19 January 2009 03:07 PM

Without a doubt, the ruler of the toy world during the 70's...

Apart from your real friends, he was your best "take anywhere, do anything" mate. Heaps of uniforms to choose from, with tanks, motorbikes, helicopters and jeeps at his disposal.
Playing with Action Man out in the garden was the best way to pass the day.
He's still the mutts nuts now.

The fact that we've all got so many is a testament to how well made AM was....I can remember my mates and I towing each other on the tanks & armoured cars behind my Raleigh Boxer for what seemed like an entire summer....

The 40th has re-introduced a lot of us to our old mate again, and if for nothing else you gotta thank the man for that,

For me it was the Daddy of 60's Toys. Got my first one in '66 and the end of my first wave of AM was in 1972. I restarted in 2006 (had a dabble with MAM when my lad was growing up but I'd like to forget that period).

Question...By moving this topic it is now in "introduction" and in "toys", if I delete it from "introduction" will it also be deleted from toys ?

Delete it from introduction and see...

I never had an Action Man (as I'm a girl) and I'm sure this is under the wrong topic but surely THE toy of the 70's was a Space Hopper! Come on admit it you all had one grin

Maybe it could be a new project for Modellers Loft (they have a lot of spare time on their hands these days)grin

That an interesting notion about "apart from your real friends"

Theres something about the Action Man figure that is AUTHENTIC & makes you feel like you BELIEVE. Like Being British during WW2 or something?

Thats Pretty Far Out Man!
